Write A Paragraph About Florence Nightingale

Florence Nightingale

Florence Nightingale was born in Italy in 1820. Her father was a rich landlord. She studied nursing at Nurses’ Training Institute in Germany. She also went to France and learned about nursing. After receiving education, she returned to England. As she received education in nursing, she took job in a hospital in London. She did not like easy and pleasant occupation. Rather she devoted herself to the hard task of improving the hospitals. She visited London hospitals. She was shocked by the roughness and stupidity in those hospitals. Just then the Crimean War broke out. English soldiers went out singing to their death. But dreadful stories came home of wounded men being left to die. Everybody felt that something heroic must be done to put a stop to the sufferings of the brave soldiers. That was done by Florence Nightingale. She went to Crimea with a group of 38 nurses. She worked day and night to help the wounded soldiers. In a few months, she brought order and comfort. She returned to England. She became famous in Nursing. For her service to the suffering humanity, she was given the title the lady with the lamp. She set up Nightingale School for nurses in London. She died on 13 August in 1910.
