Importance Of Games And Sports In Our Life

Games and sports play an important role in human life. There is a proverb that a sound mind lives in a sound body. Good health is attained by games and sports. The world can only be united through organizing games and sports. Men enjoy games and sports in two ways- playing and enjoying. They can get relieved of monotonous life by playing and enjoying games and sports. So, its importance beggars description. Sports are of great significance and benefits in our everyday life. They play a vital role in building up individual’s body and mind and also for developing harmony in the community. Both physical and mental health becomes benefited through sports. Games and sports are today a good source of earning money. They are also ambassadors of a country’s identity, pride and good wishes. The sports venue becomes a meeting place of people from different countries.

A Selfish Giant

Once there was a beautiful garden. A Giant belonged to that garden. The Giant went far away. In the meantime, the children played in that garden. One day, the Giant came back and saw the children playing. He drove them away and then built a wall round the garden. The children could not enter into it. So, they could not play. It was winter. The garden was lifeless with no flowers, birds etc. Then the spring came. The Giant found that in spite of spring his garden remained lifeless. Then, one day hearing the chirping of a bird, he looked through his window and found the children playing in his garden and the garden was full of flowers and birds. He came towards his garden but the children seeing his coming, ran away and the garden became lifeless again. He understood the matter and felt sorry. He let them enter into the garden. The garden became lively again. Since then, the Giant became their friends.

A Journey By Train

In the last autumn vacation, I got sufficient time. So, I made up my mind to make a journey by train from Khulna to Rajshahi. I reached the station about half an hour before the departure of the train. It was then a very busy time. Rickshaws, motor cars and other vehicles were coming to the station with passengers. After sometime hearing a whistle, the passengers stood in a queue before the ticket counter. I also stood in the line and bought a second class ticket. The right time the train came and the guard whistled and waved his flag. Everybody tried to get into the train fast. After much difficulty I got into a second class compartment. The compartment was full to its capacity. The train left the station. I looked outside and found the beauty of nature. The train was running through green paddy fields. There were jute and sugarcane plants here and there. They were tossing their heads in the breeze. The compartment presented a good scene. Some of the passengers were talking on various matters. Some were reading newspapers and magazines. Hawkers came up to us with their goods for sale. The train reached at the Rajshahi Station at 9 p.m. I got down. The journey in my heart I bore. It gave me much pleasure. Indeed it was one of the most memorable days in my life.

My Leisure Activities At School And At Home

Everybody does something besides his usual duty. As a student, I also pass my leisure time doing something. At school, I usually pass my leisure time by playing and sometimes gossiping with my friends. Sometimes I along with my friends discuss about difficult subject matter. At home, I pass my leisure time working in my garden. I plant flower trees and vegetables in my garden. Sometimes my parents help me. Whenever I work in my garden, I sweat. Then I feel tired. When the flowers bloom, my heart fills with joy. Actually I do it to refresh my mind.

Leisure Activities / Pastime

Leisure plays a very significant role in the life of a man. During leisure a man does not generally do any income generating work. But leisure does never mean idleness. Leisure suggests a period when a man is not bound to do any scheduled job. In a leisure period a man can do some interesting things. Some people enjoy hearing music. There are some other people who enjoy gardening or reading book. Actually leisure is very stimulating for creativity. A man can easily flourish his creativity by doing some interesting things in his leisure time. Actually leisure provides a man with ample scope to have the refreshment of mind. It gives a man enthusiasm for further work. In many developed countires leisure activities are given special importance. In Germany, there is a German Leisure Association. In Bangladesh, the rural people enjoy gossiping during their leisure time. But in the busy cities people pass their leisure by watching television. However, leisure is part and parcel of our daily life. So it should be used properly.
